An Award Winning Ethiopian-American Film Maker Who Will Be Directing An Academy Nicholls Fellowship Winning Script Speaks At Uni Bistro On Thursday, February 8

Washington, DC ( Little Ethiopia )-Salome Mulugeta is an award-winning Ethiopian American filmmaker with extensive experience in directing, producing, writing, acting and journalism. Her film, Woven, is the first Ethiopian-American movie recognized in the Screen Actors Guild. Woven, had its first premiere at the L.A. Film Festival, where it received recognition by the judges and was additionally selected to participate in nine other film festivals. Salome recently had a screening at the African Diaspora International Film Festival where she won the Narrative Audience Award for Best Film Directed by Women of Color. The Women’s Journey Foundation also awards Woven their coveted Achievement award, and recognizes Salome Mulugeta for her achievement, perseverance, and tenacity. Addis Abeka, is an upcoming film she will be directing alongside powerhouse producer, Stephanie Allain. The screenplay received an Academy Nicholls Fellowship in screenwriting, which is a major breakthrough in the film industry. Between filming, she has done substantial commercial work with top brands such as Coca Cola, Bloomingdales, Ethiopian Airlines and more. Shortly after Woven, she was covered by a number of media outlets including ABC Channel 7 and Vibe magazine. We can say that Salome is an all-around talent and truly inspired by her work ethic.
