Washington DC-( Little Ethiopia )- Ethiopia's Easter ( Fasika ) celebration held in the Diaspora and Continental Africa today. The Orthodox Christians celebrate Easter mostly a week after the European Churches or at the same time, They follow the Eastern Orthodox calendar with eight weeks of fasting from meat and dairy products.
On Eve of Fasika ,Ethiopian Christians attend a church service that ends at 3 a.m.in the morning and break their fast and celebrate the rise of Christ. In the District of Columbia ( the Sister City of Addis, Ethiopia ) and the surrounding suburbs the services were held in the nearly 20 churches.
