ዐድዋ ድል በዓል : Pan-African Activists Honors African-American & Ethiopian Patriots Who Fought For Freedom
Washington DC ( Little Ethiopia ) -Little Ethiopia has began a one month celebration of the Pan-African Victory Celebration of Adwa two days ago. This years honoree to place a wreath will be Washington D.C.'s historian, Mr. Chuck Hicks ( Mr. Black History ) who recently received " Community Cornerstone Award " from Councilmember at Large Anita Bonds. Hicks was the co-chair of the D.C. Host Committee for the opening of the new African American Museum of History and Culture in September 2016. He was also the distinguished speaker at the celebration of the Black History Month and the remembrance of " Yekatit 12 " on February 19, 2018 at the Fraser Mansion. " Yekatit 12 " is observed annually in Ethiopia and in the Diaspora communities in memory of the Addis Ababa massacre of over 30,000 Ethiopian civilians in a span of three days beginning February 19, 1937 by the ruthless fascist Italian general Rudolfo Graziani when an attempt to assassinate him failed.
Hicks is joined by an Ethiopian social activists to place a wreath for the 12th Wreath laying event in the Ethiopian community to honor African-American and Ethiopian veterans who fought for freedom. Dr. Haregewoin is a descendent of an African General ( Dejazmatch ) Germame Wolde Hawariat the distinguished medical doctor who graduated from Harvard University, This particular celebration is very significant as a very famous movie :" Black Panther " is gaining big attention globally and believed to be some of the acts and ideas incorporate the Ethiopian emperor Menelik II and the Battle of Adwa.
